Services

We provide the following services:

Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) and Electromyography (EMG).

These tests involve the stimulation of peripheral nerves by small electric pulses followed by placing a fine needle into some muscles to record their function. These tests are used to investigate conditions of the nerves and muscles such as trapped nerves, motor neurone disease or muscle disorders. To see what to expect during these tests please see the following video:

Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) and Electromyography (EMG)

Single Fibre EMG (SFEMG).

This test involves placing a very fine needle into a few muscles to test the function of the junction between the nerve and muscle. This test is used to test for particular conditions such as Myasthenia Gravis.

Single Fibre EMG (SFEMG)

Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEPs).

This tests involves the electrical stimulation of various nerves and recording the response of the brain using electrodes placed on the scalp. This test is used to check on how well the brain and spinal cord function.

Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEPs)

Electroencephalogram (EEG).

This test involves placing electrodes onto the scalp and recording brain waves. This test is used primarily to check for epilepsy.

Electroencephalogram (EEG)

Highlands and Islands Service.

For remote locations in the UK we offer a Highlands and Islands Service. Our aircraft can deploy to bring testing facilities into remote or hard to reach places through our Flying Electrodiagnostic Services (FEDS).
